The Conservative Republican’s Candidate. Or Is He?
John McCain seemed to have picked up a huge victory on Super Tuesday, by picking up a party-high 680 delegate votes. But some conservatives are not at all happy with the early win by Sen. McCain.
Most people that vote for a republican, are voting for someone who is concerned with conservative issues, such as tax cuts, preserving the institution of marriage and the refusal to accept the use of embryonic stem-cell research. Dr. James Dobson, a well-known Christian with his radio talk show Focus on the Family, criticized Sen. McCain, and even admitted on his talk show that he would not vote for a president if his choices were between Sen. McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
If conservative republican’s cannot find in their candidate someone who will stand for their beliefs, then perhaps they will find an alternative candidate to select. This should make for a very interesting race. Even though Mitt Romney is trailing Sen. McCain, there are still many states that he could win. These early wins for Sen. McCain might even encourage conservative voters to overlook their faiths, and vote for a moralist.

Now that Mitt Romney has dropped out of the race, will McCain pick Huckabee as his running mate to woo conservative voters? Would that assuage Ann Coulter, who said she’d campaign for Hillary if McCain gets the GOP nod?

The big states that MaCain won are probably going to go Dem in the presidential election. Will this render him unelectable if the traditional Rep states back away from him because of his past transgressions of McCain-Finegold, McCain-Kennedy, the gang of 14?
